A Life Worth Living

62

By John Lowery

A year ago I was suffering from a severely painful stomach ailment that lasted for more than a few months. I was left pondering my future temporary existence on this beautiful planet. I stood in my garage and said to myself, if I were to die today would I have any regrets. Surprisingly, the only one I could come up with at the time was that I have never achieved living in Australia. I decided to make the leap of faith and go out on a limb, so if and when the time comes that I pass onto the next life, I will have no regrets. It's also funny when I tell people my plans, the first question I usually get from others is: do you have a job? I simply say no and chuckle to myself, as a job doesn't mean all that much to me in terms of the bigger picture. I have always gotten by financially in strange professions - music, acting, and now sales and network marketing. I've never had a secure job, so that thought just doesn't enter my mind. My personal feeling is I am self employed regardless of who signs my paycheck.

Last year I attended a funeral of a family friend and they all said at his funeral that he had no regrets. Ask yourself this question over the next several days or weeks - If I were to die today, have I fulfilled everything that I have wanted? Would people enjoy watching a movie of my life? If you feel that people wouldn't enjoy watching a movie of your life, than you probably have some regrets. Quit putting off your plans for a better day, as today is the only better day you have got. My plane left for Australia on November 11th, 2007.

Hi John,

A few months ago I would have passed your "story" over without much thought. But recently I've also shifted my thinking. I was once a "I have to see it first to believe it person". But now I am a "I Believe it first person". Having changed the way I think has allowed me to move on from the security (and golden shackles) of a corporate job to being my own boss. I totally get where you are coming from. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

Press on!

Larry
