How Much Money Does it Take To Get Started In MLM?

I am going to tell you a harsh truth about MLM that I am sure most of you are not going to care for, but it needs to be discussed. Keep in mind that MLM is not for everybody and there are many who should not join an MLM Company. But for some it is the perfect no brainer.

How much does it cost to start an MLM Business? Did you get that last bit? Business. MLM Is a business. It is not a job, you are your own boss and are essentially in charge of your own hours, on-going costs, etc. I have heard of a few instances where someone was very successful doing MLM on a very shoestring budget. Although I never saw documentation, I did hear of a very successful Xango Distributor who was Amish. But the reality is you might need some form of electricity to make it in MLM. Below is a list of must need items to make it in your MLM Business Today.

  • A Website (Must have a capture page and auto responder) $20 a month
  • Business Cards ($10 - $100 every 6 - 12 Months)
  • Internet Connection (High Speed Preferred - Free - $100 per month)
  • Telephone ($10 - $50 per month - domestic)
  • Printer w/fax (I bought mine at Costco for $40 w/rebate)
  • Your Company Products ($50 - $300 per month)
  • Advertising (Social Networking, PPC, Magazine Ads) I would budget at least a $100 per month, but I do offer training on how to get free leads.
  • DVD's or CD's are helpful, but not necessary these days.
  • A Great Personality & Attitude (Cost = Priceless)
  • Office Furniture (Can also use kitchen table) $50 - $????
  • OOOOP's a Computer - (Definite $200 - $2000) Recommend laptop for your backyard presentations.

So as you can see you will need to make an investment to be successful in MLM, but let me break it down for you. If I told you it was going to cost you $2500 - $5000 a year to create a six-figure income you would think that was pretty cool - huh? If you are currently working full-time and paying taxes, the government will pay most of your operating expenses (ever heard of tax write-offs?). I don't know of too many places you can do that, yet so many people don't want to make an investment in their futures in MLM. And we wonder why so many fail. If your buying hope and don't want to work, or make an on-going investment in your future - buy a lottery ticket, or stay employed. If you want a business you can do anytime you like, anywhere you wish, that will pay you as much as most successful politicians, doctors, or lawyers after usually 2 or 3 years in your selected company than you might want to consider MLM.

Hi John,

It's amazing how much money gets spent on even "low to no" cost opportunities.

A great set pf points, thanks!
