How To Shut Down Other Networkers Trying To Sell You Their Incredible Opportunity
72I don't know about you, but I get hit up at least 5 times a day from different networkers to try and get me to join their team. I have been offered money, great positions, one guy told me he would give me 50 people right away, another told me I could have the number 1 spot in the entire US. Okay, SLOW DOWN. I have never ever been a lucky networker who has had anyone build a downline for me. As a matter of fact, I cannot remember the last time that someone placed anyone under me. You see, I do know it is possible for this scenerio to happen, as I have seen it firsthand. But I also know it is possible for me to win the lottery. At the end of the day no matter what anyone tells you here is what you can expect. As Randy Gage says, "Consider it a gift from the gods, if anyone gets placed under you". You see, it is possible to end up with a huge down-line doing nothing and banking on timing but so is winning the lottery. I've actually met a few lottery winners. So if your only joining network marketing to try and win the lottery, you might want to think long and hard as to why you are doing this business.
I'm also going to throw a stone at Mike Dillard and all of these guys selling this PPC program that just hit the net over the past few weeks. I was just going to buy it tonight out of all the hype, and everyone telling me I had until midnight tonight to throw my $200 on my credit card. But than I thought, I'm better at building relationships than putting advertisements up on the net. As a matter of fact, I may even ditch pay per click all together and focus on what I do best which is branding myself and surfing. I think I might even go spend my money on a new surfboard tomorrow and may even put together my own series of DVD's and books to compete with Mike and Ann Sieg, ha ha.
Here is my story, I have only recruited a handful of people, that I didn't build some sort of relationship with either through my blogs, warm market, or social networking sites. No offense to Mike, as usually I think he is brilliant, but I think he could be selling something that isn't really absolutely necessary to build your MLM Business, but I will tell you what is, its called relationships.
Oh yeah! What do you do with those obnoxious networkers that don't know how to take NO for an answer. I usually just kill them with kindness, but sometimes you just have to hang up on them. I actually had a guy the other day who was so obnoxious, that I just kindly put the phone down and went back to having a conversation with my six year old son. Thank god I don't have to chase people to join my business, but for some reason many people do, or so they think they do. I call it "Bible Belt Selling" and it certainly doesn't work on me. Remember whenever you are in a place of desperation or begging you are the weaker one. For the golden secret, you will have to wait for another blog, but I learned it from a professional sales coach about 12 years ago. This golden secret has made me alot of money - send me $39.95 to my pay pal account and I will tell you - ha ha....

This is so true this industry will at it's core be relational marketing. no matter what they say otherwise. Had a system that placed referals under you what a nightmare, just built you a lazy downline
HOW DO I SHUT YOU DOWN?
John,
At least 5 a day call and many more email me... Most are spamming an email address I never leave for info but do use for business. I have recently met a few people who are actually willing to network. After asking them how many people do they talk to that are not interested in their business... most like the rest of us... I suggest we offer another option. Them from me and me from them. I have been reading The 29Percent Solution by Ivan Misner and in line with your quitting PPC this may be a way to network with people who are willing to do the work and know its about the quality of the invitation.
Thank you for this post!
Michael
Well written!
John, having been in this industry for over 20 years, I have seen this too just about every day. . Great articel Keep up the good work and I totally agree. Bait and switch is another pet peeve of mine. Rocking Hot post! doug
Hi John,
Well said! Some of our "friends," are so tenacious...and it becomes annoying. We want to ask "what is the flavor of the day?"
That being said... here are our 20 links www. HA HA HA.com !!!
Keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Kim and Barry
John,
I am a little mixed on the PPC end though. For PPC does not guarrantee you a customer or a business builder. Establishing a relationship is still very important.
John, by the way...I think you would be an asset in my team.
Just kidding.
Great post, as usual.

Good article John! We all go through this, multiple pitches, by people who are "trained" to push and shove, intimidate, or promote through fear of loss.
If they are pushing, here is another method that works well for putting them off. Insist on an answer.
How many people does it take to create $10K per month in residual income from this opp?
This can be proven out mathematically - so make sure you get answer - and then you can see clearly - who's zoomin who! You will be amazed at how many people cannot answer this question.
Don't let them try to baffle you with bonuses and income quotes. The residual is the walk away money. The long term stuff!
My experinece has been different from most.
And to be honest, I don't get them all that often while running my business on a consistent basis. Sure sometimes I get the occasional email or phone call asking me to join them, but most of these people are really pleasent.
Quick story:
Few weeks ago, women called me, briefly (and I mean breifly) asked me what I was up to and then almost immediately went into talking about how some macho guy from one company was coming to the one she was selling me on in just one week, and everyone positioned will benefit.
Then she went on about this whole "4x7" (or whatever) plan, and I'm actually asking here to explain to me exactly what a "4xwhatever" is, and she tried to explain it to me - taking almost 4 minutes to do.
After that, I'm sure she thought the least I could do was "check out" the website she asked me to write down (which I did) and she'll follow back with me the following day same time.
To avoid dealing with this very nice women but time sucking vampire, I didn't bother looking at the site nor answering her calls. She got the hint.
Good article John. Like yourself, I've been in the network marketing industry a while, recruited the vast majority of people through trust and relationship building and although I see the place for PPC the people who stay with you and go on to build a business of their own are usually the ones you develop a relationship with in the first place.
The old saying still applies, people don't like to be sold, but will buy you if you develop trust.

Now this was brilliant! I've grown tired of the hype AND the marketers trying their hardest to get me into their business!
