Social Networking The Wave of Recruiting

If you have spent anytime on the internet recently you have probably become familar with some of the sites that allow you to connect with others like MySpace, Facebook, Youtube, XANGA, Blogger, Directmatches, and many more. It seems as though a new one is emerging everyday of the week. I personally have used MySpace,Facebook, youtube, and Directmatches. I have found that my circle of friends has definitely grown over the past several months. I actually got into MySpace a few years ago and used it to promote my network marketing business. My upline thought I was a knucklehead and after several weeks and alot of hours of meeting new people, I didn't sign up any new people for my business. However I met some people online who I am still in contact with today. I have met one guy online who has helped me build a website from halfway across the world. We chat up regularly and I would consider him to be a great friend, even though we have never even had a phone conversation. We have probably chatted at least 25 times over the past few years. I've got a friend in England who has written stellar reviews on my music. I've literally made relationships with people all over the world. It is a great way to meet new people and I believe it will be one of the best ways to grow your home based business over the next few years.

Why do I think that? Let's just say after a lengthy sabatical from network marketing and MySpace, I jumped back on the bandwagon again to see what I could stir up. Even though MySpace shut me down after only a few weeks, I had signed up a handful of business builders during my trial. I tested it, and it worked. Some of the people even lasted more than a few weeks in my business. They are what I call 3%'s and I will get to that another time. I also learned over my trial period on MySpace that there was actually a technique to recruiting on the internet and it was very different from what I had tried previously when I failed.

How do you recruit via social networking sites. It is not easy, as there is alot of competition out there. I get hit up for 10 to 15 Home Based Opportunities a day. If I were to spend time looking at each opportunity, I literally could make it a full-time job. The key to being successful in social networking circles is really only 2 things. A good pleasant attractive demeanor, that tells people you are successful, and something that entices people to go to your website.

I had a guy on a social networking site email me the otherday and said it must be nice to be a multi-millionaire. I somehow have branded myself as this bigger than life image, even though I am having great success in my home based business, I certainly am not a multi-millionaire. But to be successful in social networking circles it is just like in life, you have to create the image. You are selling yourself and if you can't sell yourself you don't have a prayer to make it on the social networking scene. Come to think of it, you don't have a prayer in most any scene if you can't sell yourself.

Many people hate the word "sell", yet they unknowingly do it everyday!

Hi JOhnYou are so right...Eddie and i when we first got involved with real estate , we branded ourselves with an image and it has stuck over the years., You have to portray yourself as you want to be seen....... and be careful while you are doing it so that you are happy with the image!..It has helped us grow a very successful business.
