Why So Much Scum in MLM?

59

By John Lowery

MLM is an awesome business as it forces you to become a better person all around and develop life changing skills that will help you excel in any endeavor. It also teaches you to work with others without expecting anything in return. As Jim Rohn States, "No one ever fails in MLM". My question this evening after seeing what has gone on at my parent company. Is why does MLM attract such scum?

You know them, the ones that log into your website instead of looking for information they are trying to sell you their latest opportunity. The ones who spams you 20 times a day in hopes you will join their opportunity, but most wouldn't have the balls to ever pick up the phone and build a relationship with you. You know them, the ones who won't take no for an answer and will pester you until you finally say yes or tell them to go to hell, because they just don't get the hint. I don't know about you, but I certainly don't have skin that thick? If I ever call you more than 2 times, I probably just like you, or your responding to my invitations. How about the guy who front loads product in order to get a big commission check knowing full well that you will never earn a dime and have a room full of product?

The above is just a small example of what I have seen in the industry, but nothing comes close to what we witnessed at Zrii this past week. Absolutely the lowest of the low. A management team that tried to throw their captain overboard, so they could take over the entire company along with 5 greedy distributors. Man oh man, what were they thinking? They thought Bill Farley would walk away like a puppy dog with his tail between his legs. Boy were they sadly mistaken. Let me remind you that not one of these people put in a single dime of their own money to build The Zrii Corporate Empire. They received lavish vacations, brand new BMW's, and were ultimately given the keys to the castle. If that wasn't bad enough I have received multiple phone calls and emails from distributors trying to tell me Zrii was out of business and I should join them. Some have even gone as far as posting Zrii no longer on their website and putting videos on Youtube. I can't believe all the bottom feeders, it's shocking. My business partner was offered $20K to join another MLM Company. If that wasn't bad enough the former master distributor of Zrii put out a mass email last week to try and recruit many active Zrii Distributors into his latest venture. This week was truly the most educational week I have ever had in MLM.

On the flipside, I do know there are many good honest people out there that really desire to help others and aren't only trying to fill up their piggy banks. I know that many of you reading this don't feel exactly the same way as I do. And I know that I have met life long friends in this industry and have built relationships that go far beyond just business. I Just wish for the small percentage of the industry that are only self serving would just go away. But maybe that would be dreaming??? As every industry has their scum, just look at Wall Street and D.C  - ha ha....

Huh, Sounds like a lot of Red personalities or people who have been lied to by their upline into trying to be something they are not. Personalyy Reds don't do it for me. Then again they are such a small percentage of the needy people out there who are just looking for a way to build. Makes what we do so much more important doesn't it? Teaching others How to think instead of What to think?

Wow John what a horrible chain of events for you this week. Sort of like lions and jackals feeding on a carcass. I feel for you and I see your heart is good. Hang in there my friend.

Wow, John. Sorry to hear what you, your team, and Zrii went through. When are people going to understand that there's plenty of business and prospects to go around and they don't have to take the low road to build their businesses? Good luck my friend, take care.

I understand, but from a different view. I have so many people approaching me with their latest and greatest... Theirs is the best... You have never seen such...

I guess there are those that are in such need to make a buck that they are willing to approach anyone. Approach is a good thing, but listen to others is must.

As I see it most MLMs are truly great for the people that will step forward, seize the opportunity, and help others that are looking for an opportunity to step up to the plate.

John, myself having been in this industry 15 plus years I have seen a lot of things go on in this industry. Of course there are truly some good people in this industry that really mean well, but you also have oh so many that are in it just for themselves. It saddens me to see this happen to you or anyone else, but such is life and we just have to deal with it as it comes. Times and situations like this really exposes true character, hang in there.

John, I hate to say this, but this will not be the first nor will it be the last time that something like this happens to a company.

If there are warning signs out there, heed to them. This is why I feel having multiple income streams is a good idea.

My 2 sense.

p.s. John, your better than those scumbags.

Hey John,

Wow! Thanks for sharing...I had no clue it was this bad. I have heard some stuff going on at Zrii and also, you did message me a couple of times about it, but this gives more info about what's going on.

Pretty crazy stuff. I'm sure that a bit of people may be leaving the company/organization because of all this. But if you keep at it, you'll continue to have success.

Hi John,

I'm so sorry this has happened to you! I've been in network marketing for 14 years and have experienced this a couple of times. Those of us who have integrity just have to hold our heads up high, and know we are in the right place, at the right time, and keep falling forward! I wish you the best John.

Hang in there, kiddo! I was an engineer for 20 years and there are people like that everywhere. What goes around comes around.

http://www.sltrib.com/business/ci_11647455 I found this link that sheds more light on the issue with Zrii.

We should all be careful when selecting a company to join.

You asked why MLM attracted scum?

Well, there is no business out there who doesn't have it's share of scumbags.

Even soem charities are ran by greedy corporate execs. And guess what...

There' is absolutely little you can do to change that. Focus on helping other people acheive success and avoid those types of people and alot of people will thank you for it..

I know there are people out there like it. But I don't spend my time venting over why that is, because it doesn't concern me at all.

Catherine Heridis 3 years ago

Thanks for sharing this! It is true, there are scumbags EVERYWHERE in EVERY profession so don't let this unfortunate circumstance get to you. Network marketing is a mentoring and educating profession but there are those few people who would think otherwise and only looking at the MONEY (the so-called RED personalities). But they are few so watch out which mlm company you want to join. Do your due diligence and see how many Reds are there in your company. If all the Reds on earth are there, then jump ship and go elsewhere. Build your business honestly, honor your reputation, work diligently, and you will earn the loyalty and respect of others and the money will come.
