Your Habits Are Crucial To Your Success

Definition of habits as defined by the dictionary is - A recurrent, often unconscious pattern of behavior that is acquired through frequent repetition. Some habits are bad and can kill your success. For example, drug and alcohol abuse almost guarantee failure of not just your health, but also your business and personal life. It is very important not just be repitious throughout your day, but also to make sure that you are well balanced. To be successful in life you cannot just be successful in one area and not in others, it doesn't work. Your habits good or bad in alot of ways will determine where you will end up down the track. If you smoke cigarettes for 20 years, don't be surprised when the doctor tells you that you got emphysema or asthma. If you have a bad habit of making lots of phone calls, surfing the net, or watching TV, don't be surprised when your business isn't profitable. The difference between successful people and unsuccessful people, is that most of the successful people have good habits and the not so successful have bad habits.

With all that being said, how does one learn to develop good habits? It has been said that any habit can be broken within 3 weeks. I remember quitting smoking around 7 years ago and it was extremely tough for the first few weeks, but it slowly got easier to break the habit. Some people may have a habit with gambling, or alcohol, which could require a treatment program, intervention, or a program like Alcoholics Anonymous or Gamblers Anonymous.

Here are some examples of some habits I have developed over the past few years that have led to personal success. Always do something every day that will improve your life. If you are in sales, network marketing, or management, make sure to develop the habit of reading or listening to motivational or personal development material regularly. Develop the habit of staying away from the whiners and complainers, they will wreck you - I promise. If your in network marketing, or sales set a daily goal of say, "I'm going to talk to at least 10 new people today, and every day for the next month". When I was a business development manager a few years ago, I would make it a habit every day to send out at least 10 personal letters every day. When I was in training to run in a 5K Race last year I made it a habit to run at least 3 days a week for at least 30 minutes for the few months I was in training. Currently, I am in the habit of writing at least 5 new blogs every week. It isn't so much that I want every blog to be the best, it is repetion and knowing that by blogging I am not only making a difference in other peoples lives, but also in my business life as well.
